Knight with horse, plus lady

Damon and I were watching "Robin and Marion" (with sean connery and audrey hepburn) and I was in love with all the pretty horses, so I tried to draw one with a knight.  I obviously draw better horses than knights.

And, bonus lady from Vogue Fashion book...

Kitten looking surly

I didn't mean to make him look surly, but he kinda does.

Day of the Dead PINATA??

So, those of you who managed to purchase the SUPER AWESOME Girls Drawin Girls 2010 Art Calendar will no doubt recognize my lovely pin-up art for the month of October- a Day of the Dead girl. (and YES, i know Dios de los Meurte is Nov 1-2. You'll just have to deal ; )

Well, I had a wonderful admirer of my work purchase the original painting, and ask my permission if he could one day design a pinata based off/inspired by her (to which I responded, "hells yeah!").

My friends, that day is NOW. (although, he says he's not calling this one technically a Pinata. But I like to think it is!)

Front view- love the inclusion of the bird on her head!

Check out those lacy hot pants! CUTE!

Mermaid Figurehead

Rough Megan and Sundance

Had My Little Pony on the brain and did this rough Megan with Sundance...

Michelle O

I started drawing a retro 60s girl, and then used markers to color her in, then realized the black ink i had used wasn't waterproof, so the markers were smudging, and turning out too dark, but then I realized it made my doodle look like a really cute Michelle Obama meets Jackie O. Ha! So, drawing went from "cute," to "oh no!" to, oh wait, "cute!"

OMG, I (heart) Ugly Americans

So, if you haven't heard me wax poetic about Comedy Central's new show, Ugly Americans, you obviously haven't spoken to me for more than 10 minutes in the past few weeks.

I am a huge fan of Augenblick Studio's previous show, Superjail (if you haven't seen it already, you really need to. I'm serious.), and I was really hoping this new show would match Superjail's surreal animation, oddly raw but appealing character design and wicked humor.

I am please to report that it does, indeed, live up to my high expectations. It is awesome, and you should be watching it. I have laughed my ass off at all three (four?) episodes so far.

So check it out! This is a sketch one of my fav characters, Callie the demon girlfriend.

So, in closing, Augenblick- great job!  Awesome work!  I am so happy to see an American studio making rad 2-d stuff. To that note, Cuppa Coffee Studios (based out of Toronto) seems to also have a hand in animating the series. To that, (and don't get me wrong, I love Canada), I say to Augenblick: PLEASE HIRE AMERICANS! There are tons of crazy talented animators out here in LA. Please hire us before sending more work up north.  We would seriously love to work on your shows. love, the los angeles 2-d animation industry.

proudly present

a group art show celebrating the stunning, inspiring and legendary movie

THE LAST UNICORN

with very special guest

Peter S. Beagle

author, musician and creator of one of the greatest movies of all time.

Peter S. Beagle's THE LAST UNICORN is a timeless fantasy story full of adventure and surprise, set within a poetic and humorous world of legend. The novel has been a cult classic since it was first published in 1968, selling over 6 million copies around the world in more than 20 languages. In 1982 the story was adapted by Peter S. Beagle and Rankin-Bass into one of the greatest animated films of all time.

Peter S. Beagle is the author of numerous screenplays and books, including THE LAST UNICORN, A FINE AND PRIVATE PLACE, and TAMSIN. His many honors include the Hugo, Nebula, Locus, and Mythopoeic Fantasy Awards.

THE LAST UNICORN is a magical story full of positive imagery with a message of peace, understanding, and positive change and growth. It's not only about heroes, wizardry, winning battles, and fighting monsters; it is a tale about growing up and the discovery of your special place in the world: an original fairy tale of transformation and the realization of our dreams.

To coincide with the gallery show, there will be screening of THE LAST UNICORN on Saturday, April 17th. (Location TBD). A Q&A with Peter S. Beagle will be conducted after the movie.
