day 30- scribbles

trying a new way of sketching; scribbling randomly on paper and finding defining shapes within it, and working a drawing out of that. Apparently there are lots of naked girls in my scribbles ;)

Illustration Friday; Tales and Legends

For Illustration Friday; presenting the legend of Queen Califia, "the legendary Black Amazon warrior queen, associated with the mythical Island of California"... I made her more a blend of South American looking (aztec), and added fire, since Southern California has experienced so much fire this past year, it made sense to have it's namesake as a warrior spirit with fire.

Figure Drawing, 1/22/08

Figure drawing tonight at film roman; I have a sketch book from ex libris anonymous (awesome site- highly recommend for unique one of a kind sketchbooks!), which used to be a book about fish. When they make the sketch books, they keep some of the original pages in the book to add personality; figured it'd be fun to draw my figures on the original pages left.

2 for one!

This one goes out to NPH, whose Harold and Kumar poster totally inspired this post (also because my blog hasn't been girly enough without adding unicorns)

Trouble on the Plains

Lily Mae knew there was trouble a brewin' whenever the winds kicked the tumbleweeds up from the plains into her town.

the eternal question...

Based loosely off of our family pet corgi, Angel. Seriously, anybody who names their dog/cat/etc "Angel" is just in for trouble. (And yes, she does usually have that blank look on her face even when she's up to her usual antics. ; ) But we still love her!)

The Wonderful Mr. Wiggles

Mr. Wiggles is one of my bettas, who unfortunately is pretty sick right now, so this is sort of in honor of him. I got him about 2 and a half years ago, and the "wiggles" in his name comes from the little curly-Qs and tendrils his tail used to have. He's a good fish- a lot of spirit and personality. He is, the Wonderful Mr. Wiggles.

Finally made it to Film Roman's figure drawing night- enjoy!

The frog cookie jar

Do I really need another cookie jar? I already have a NMB4Xmas one, a rabbit, and a parrot cookie jar. (But it's SO cute! And it's a frog!) Maybe I'm turning into Jack Donaghy from 30 rock ; )

Trying the 365 drawing-a-day project again; maybe this year I'll make it past February! I'm going to try and simplify things so it's more managable. Enjoy!
