Black Lightening Heart

Black Lightening Heart from Modern Eden Gallery's Tribute to Metal show

I was originally inspired by Bats for Lashes song of the same title (I know, I know! not a metal song, but I loooove the imagery. I wanted to take the lyrics and make it darker)

Continuing playing with paint and colored pencil on wood panel. Love the balance of those two mediums.

Black Lightening Heart

Inspired by songs lately! Was listening to Bats for Lashes' song  "What's a Girl To Do?" and have always loved the line "and my black lightening heart, wants to fly away."

Upon further research, I discovered that the line was "and my bat lightening heart, wants to fly away." At least I got the bat part right in the drawing!

The secret tool on the Utility Belt

So, after watching The Dark Knight today, we pondered, when does Batman have time to apply all that greasepaint around his eyes before fighting crime? That's the deleted scene I want to see- of him getting ready and touching up his make-up with his Bat Compact.

Batman- fighting crime with FABULOUS dark smokey eyes.
