Even if Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and 3 were questionable movies, plot wise, I did always like the aesthetics of Tia Dalma- she just seemed like a really cool character to me for some reason- that whole voodoo priestess thing with the weird dot face tattoos meets old 18th century fashion.
Plus, I like that she's actually the sea nymph Calypso- I think cooler in concept rather than in actual execution within the movie, but I liked the idea. I liked out this drawing turned out- although all of her cool dress is hidden underwater (or is it??) ; )

Crazy for Cult show!
Had a great time at the Crazy for Cult 2 show this evening at Gallery 1988; ran into plenty of friends, both old and new! Got to meet and talk to Scott Mosier (the second half of Kevin Smith's podcast, Smodcast), which was great, and hung out with the greatly talented Jim Mahfood- I even got an amazing arm magic marker "tattoo" from him! (it's beautiful!!) So today's piece goes out to Jim and his awesome style- totally inspired by my arm right now!
