Illustration Friday "Electricity"

For Illustration Friday's theme, "Electricity," I thought of Topsy, the unfortunate elephant whom Edison electrocuted in order to demonstrate the dangers of AC current. I wanted to draw something that would capture the barbary of the act and add a crown of electric sparks, while incorporating the bizarre headdress that they put on her. I'd like to think of this image as some sort of electric ghost or spirit of Topsy.

What a horrific sacrifice. Nicely illustrated though!

God a'mighty, I didn't know Edison did that, the !!@?%!. Your dramatic drawing is a nice tribute to the poor beast.

I didn't know that. Thanks for illo to teach us.

Your illo made me aware of how mistreated elephants have been.
Many were killed struck by lightning, this one was sadly executed by electrocution.
Beautiful tribute to a sad situation... thank you.

That color really pops on this one...you'd never get away with something like that today...they would probably let you use a child but never an elephant...
