On the bus back to Tokyo

Views from the bus-ride back to Tokyo through the countryside. PS- I did end up having my necklace and overnight kit with me! A bit of a panic wondering if I had left them behind...

Fish wind stockings blowing in the wind over a river

Daruma dolls and the interesting/unique treeline of Japan's forests

Toying around in Toyama

Hanging around Toyama waiting for my bus back to Tokyo. Note to self: bring lots of cash to Japan- not a plastic-friendly society, unless you're in the really touristy areas (and even then...)

Disappointment at the Hotaru Ika museum

Glowing squids are cool.. in theory. Note to self; visit Toyama between late march and MID-May to see them in the wild, not late May, when all squid sightings are limited to the museum... (and what type of museum/aquarium has a touch tank where you can pick allow children to pick up delicate little squids? So sad!

(Also of note- this fine establishment has one of the most trippiest, most bizarre "light show" ever designed to make you have an epileptic seizure. Seriously! 10 minutes of drug-inspired flashes and small flying stars singing in japanese....)

sketchbook- japan

Here are some sketches from my recent trip to Japan- there are a bunch, so I'm breaking it up into smaller posts. This drawing is from our host family's garden in Kawagoe, a suburb of Tokyo.
